Map of the Arctic Ocean
The Arctic Ocean is the smallest of the world's five major oceans. It is surrounded by Europe, Asia and North America, and occupies basin approximately circular, covering an area of about 14,056,000 km². The Arctic Ocean is connected to the Pacific Ocean by the Bering Strait and to the Atlantic Ocean through the Greenland Sea and Labrador Sea. Petroleum and natural gas fields, gravel aggregates, fish and many other natural resources can all be found in abundance in the Arctic Region.
