Maps of AfricaThe Republic of Kenya is divided into eight provinces: Coast (26 districts), North-Eastern (17 districts), Eastern (43 districts), Central (34 districts), Rift Valley (78 districts), Western (33 districts), Nyanza (42 districts), Nairob (18 districts). Map by CIA, dated 1988. Present subdivisions of Kenya have been in place since 2010, replacing the old system. Under the Constitution of 2010 and other reforms to Provincial Administration the country acquired a new system of Counties. The previous Provinces were scrapped and the 46 Districts, in existence since 1992, were turned into Counties with elected governments.

Kenya is a country located in East Africa, crossed by the equator line. Its capital is Nairobi. It borders are South Sudan and Ethiopia to the north, Somalia and the Indian Ocean to the east, Tanzania to the south, and Uganda to the west. The country is known for its rich wildlife parks, and for Mount Kenya, a mountain with three permanently snow-capped peaks. Kenya is a multicultural country with diverse ethnicities and languages, including Niger-Congo, Nilo-Saharan and Afro-Asiatic languages.
